| IN-DEPTH. |
| APPEARANCE; Mirage looks young for her age - at least, young enough to pass off as a university student. She's tall, standing at 5'9", and weighs 117 pounds. She has long, blonde hair that goes all the way to her waist, and because of its length, it is usually kept in a braid. She has blue eyes, pale complexion and a pretty face; in canon, she's considered highly attractive. For a woman with a man's job and extensive martial arts training since childhood, she somehow manages to retain her feminine charm. She has a good posture, one which stemmed from her training, but she is prim and proper in most occasions that she is easily mistaken for a model or beauty queen. Her outfit indicates otherwise, however; it may be trendy to a degree, but also boyish, consisting of a shirt, a jacket, a pair of shorts, boots and gauntlets. PERSONALITY; Mirage is the faithful follower. She keeps a low profile and has an extremely unpretentious personality, but she is dependable and gets the mission accomplished, having a strong internal sense of duty. She is organized and methodical, and generally succeeds at any task which she undertakes. It is hard and it takes time for someone to win her trust, because she places great importance on honesty and integrity. But anyone who does will have earned an ally for life; she will faithfully follow any command from that person, no matter how crazy it may sound, and she is extremely dependable on following through with things which she has promised. She generally takes things very seriously, but she also has an offbeat sense of humor and can be a lot of fun. She cares deeply about those close to her, but she expresses that through actions rather than through words. ABILITIES; Mirage is a master of the arts of the Jinju school of Taijutsu. She is also a skilled pilot and mechanic, and has been exposed to covert operations. HISTORY; Mirage Koas was born in around 745 SD on Klaus IV, the fourth planet of the Klaus system. She is the daughter of the owner of the Jinju school of Taijutsu and is a master of the art. Her sparring partner was a Klausian as well - Cliff Fittir, an intelligent and charismatic young man who had earned her trust, even if he looked like a thug at first glance. Their record stands at 982 wins, 11 losses and 43 ties, but it would be best not to say to whom the wins and losses belong. Years later, Cliff founded Quark, an organization of Klausians opposing the Pangalactic Federation. As his long-time partner, she was the first person Cliff had asked to join, and she agreed. In time, Quark grew, and their operations spread to many parts of the galaxy. In 765 SD, the Aldian Empire launched a brutal attack on Federation Station #17, a Pangalactic Federation base that used to orbit the planet Rahva III and was the closest military base to the territory of the Aldian Empire. A day after the attack, on board Quark's flagship, the Diplo, Cliff and Mirage rescued an Earthling girl named Maria Traydor, who was apparently the only survivor. Orphaned and with no place to go home to, they took her to Klaus, where she was trained by Mirage and eventually convinced by Cliff to join Quark. Four years later, Maria took over and became the leader of Quark, but Cliff and Mirage continued to work as partners, doing important missions for the organization. One such mission was to retrieve a boy named Fayt Leingod, who was on a vacation at Hyda IV. It was the year 772 SD. Things did not go as planned. The Vendeeni had attacked Hyda IV before they could get to Fayt, and so they ended up chasing him all over the galaxy. They found him on Vanguard III; he had boarded an escape pod and landed there. Cliff was able to convince him to meet up with their leader, but they were ambushed by the Vendeeni on their way to their rendezvous point with Maria. Mirage managed to throw off the Vendeeni ships, but they ended up crash-landing on a planet called Elicoor II. She was separated from Cliff and Fayt for a good amount of time, but she managed to track them down and rejoined them in the city of Aquios, just in time to witness another attack by the Vendeeni, followed by Maria's arrival on the planet. They all worked together to fend off the Vendeeni and eventually leave the planet to rescue Fayt's father, who had been captured by the Vendeeni. They failed to rescue Fayt's father, but he'd told them to "go to Moonbase", so Mirage brought them there. At the research station, they learned that there was a new threat in the galaxy, in the form of ultra-powerful space-borne beings called Executioners. They had issued a declaration of war, and the technology of both the Federation and the Vendeeni seemed to pale in comparison to theirs. Investigation of the Moonbase records revealed the truth behind the Executioners and their appearance. During the charting of the planet Styx, explorers encountered an extremely advanced and extremely old Time Gate. When it was activated, it informed them that their forays into the field of symbological genetics had angered the Creator, and that they were to be destroyed. Even if they were to abandon symbological genetics, the reins would be taken up by another soon enough, and that they were not being warned, rather they were being sentenced. Studies soon suggested that the statement came from another plane of existence; an entirely new universe, known as 4D space. Further study revealed that symbology might be used to access that universe. The scientists - Robert and Ryoko Leingod, Jessie Traydor and Clive Esteed - agreed to use their own offspring, and the children were symbologically altered in such a way that if they worked together, they could gain entry through the Time Gate. Maria was given the power of Alteration, which would allow her and those with her to remain in physical forms in the new world. Fayt was given the power of Destruction, as it was assumed they would need to physically defend themselves. Sophia was given the power of Connection, the key ability needed to make contact with 4D space. The Vendeeni had been attacking in hopes of handing over Fayt to the Executioners and staying away from their wrath. They all then went to Styx to confront the Creator. Reaching the Time Gate, they entered 4D space, a dimension higher than their own. There, they learned that the 4D beings viewed their world as unreal; rather, their world, the Eternal Sphere, was a computer simulation developed by Luther Lansfeld, the owner of the Sphere Company, similar to real-world MMORPGs. The Executioners were apparently anti-viruses sent to delete anomalies in the Milky Way section of the Eternal Sphere. Luther finally decided that the Eternal Sphere was beyond saving and had to be destroyed. But they fought the Creator and won, and they all returned to the Sphere. After the action had died down, she and Cliff were summoned by her father back to Klaus IV. He had been asked to take over the dojo, but he couldn't because he had other responsibilities in Quark, and so Mirage went back home all by herself. FALSE MEMORIES; Mirage was born on Elysium, but she was kidnapped when she was little, and when her parents refused to pay the ransom, she was left on the streets of Abyss to die. However, she was rescued and adopted by an elderly man, Koas, who taught her martial arts and many other things in order for her to survive. Koas had another student, a young street thug named Cliff, who became her partner-in-crime, and together with their friends they called themselves 'Quark'. Sometime in her late teens, however, her adoptive father died, brutally murdered for reasons unknown, and she was an orphan again. She took on 'Koas' as her last name and vowed to find out who killed him and have justice served in her favor. The government couldn't help her, however; refused to help her, rather. But that only inspired Cliff to take matters into his own hands; with his friends, they tracked down the killer and killed him. Quark then became more than a name, but a rebel group with a just cause. Her codename, as decided by Cliff, was Avenger. But they couldn't do much in Abyss, even after trying for many years. True, Quark had grown in number, but Abyss was not a place for it, as it was ridiculously far from the seat of power. They had to take things to Elysium if they wanted their voices to be heard. However, Cliff or anyone else from Quark for that matter couldn't enter Elysium. So they sent Mirage instead, disguised as a university student, to infiltrate enemy territory and do what she can to aid Quark's cause. |
